In August, Epworth was proudly represented at the Australasian Simulation Congress in Adelaide by the Clinical Education and Simulation team. The conference theme, Transformative Futures: Building Tomorrow Together, highlighted emerging approaches shaping the future of simulation‑based education and healthcare improvement.
Key sessions explored how artificial intelligence is being integrated into simulation for both education and systems testing through translational simulation. Attendees also engaged with a diverse range of simulation modalities, including immersive augmented and virtual reality environments and the innovative Visually Enhanced Mental Simulation (VEMS) methodology.
A standout event was the SimStars Grand Finals, where interprofessional undergraduate teams collaborated live on stage to design and deliver simulation scenarios, demonstrating creativity, teamwork, and clinical reasoning under pressure.
Further insights from the congress are shared in a podcast interview, where Associate Professor Tess Vawser discusses Epworth’s current undergraduate interprofessional research program in collaboration with University of Melbourne and Deakin University final‑year students.
